The Department of Industry and Economy was established in Fujairah under Decree No. 3 of 1980 headed by Sheikh Saleh bin Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, where it plays an important and effective role in building important and modern foundations in the fields of economic and industrial development, and regulating and revitalizing the internal and external industry of the Emirate. The department's tasks are:
•Supervising the guidance and control of economic development processes in the emirate.
•Preparing studies for industrial, agricultural, and commercial projects that benefit the citizens of the emirate and the state in general.
•Implement and finance a number of projects that form the infrastructure of the emirate's economic structure.
•Granting licenses for the establishment, expansion or change of purpose or place of industrial establishments, taking into account the country's economic needs and internal and external marketing structures in the scope of economic and social development.
•Provide information and data to stakeholders at their request for the purpose of establishing certain industries or expanding the list. The Department also plays a key role in advertising, advertising, services or production through its multiple contacts, and participates in the holding of exhibitions, meetings and seminars that it sees as beneficial to the project.
The Department also contributes to the financing of the establishment of economically viable industries carried out by the Department. As a result of this great effort by the Department of Industry and Economy, the Emirate now includes many industrial, agricultural, commercial, food security and financial institutions, banking, services, housing, tourism, and important economic facilities.
